IKEA excels at creating basic, functional furniture, but for hardcore aesthetes the lack of attention to detail is sometimes off-putting enough to knock it out of the running. Swedish upstart Prettypegs, founded by Jana Cagin and Mikael Söderblom, offers a way to make otherwise plain homewares sing. The company, which describes its product line as “fabulous shoes for your furniture,” makes alternate peg legs that are compatible with IKEA couches, chairs, beds, and storage pieces. Styles include the gold-dipped Estelle, the spherical Otto, and the angular Hillevi, among others; all are available in multiple colors and finishes, including neutrals, brights, and metallics.
